The Book of the Cat by Michael Wright, Sally Walters, eds. This book is unfortunately out of print, but it is still one of the best. If you can get a copy, keep it! The genetics information has a couple minor errors. Amazon.com has a great out-of-print search service.
Cats for Dummies by Gina Spadafori and Paul D. Pion. Not that real dummies would have the taste and distinction to WANT cats. A nice general book.
